Tej, the time demon/crawler is fighting against the odds to save the world from the control of evil forces. Just like in the first book, fellow time demons, time readers, humans, necromancers etc are helping him in winning this battle. But unlike the first book, the villain, in this case, is not a fellow human or time demon.

Book Review: All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
I just finished reading 'All Quiet on the Western Front' before taking up this book. Even though I didn't want to, I couldn't avoid mentally comparing the two books, especially since both are themed on war. And I did end up liking 'All Quiet...' far more than this book.
